March 2004 Contest

From CLAY to JARS

We asked you to try out your linguistic pottery skills in the March 2004 contest . . . in other words, take the word CLAY and make it into the word JARS by changing one letter at a time. Each four-letter word that comes between them must be a real word, but there are clues below to help you out. There is also an example below to help get you started.
