Jar of Clay
By Carla G. Cotita

Not a vase of gold, lest I claim
This treasure and I are one and the same
Let it never, ever be told
That I created this priceless gold

Make me humble, this only do I pray,
Make me into a jar of clay

Not a chest of steel, lest I contend
In my own strength I could defend
Myself for even just an hour
Make me worthless to show Your power

Make me frail right now, this day
Make me into a jar of clay

Though I am poor, I'll never lack
Though I am pressed, I never will crack
For the treasure of the Blood set me free
The power of the Potter is manifest in me

This treasure and power forever will stay
For I am God's own jar of clay
