Wayback Wednesday: Vintage Jarsofclay.com

For this week’s Wayback Wednesday, we’re going to have a little bit of fun with archive.org’s aptly-titled Wayback Machine! The Wayback Machine is an archive of previous iterations of the web, and there are some fun versions of jarsofclay.com saved there…

  • Not much remains of the original website from 1996, but there’s some fun “news” about the band’s Coca-Cola jingle. (Careful, you might want to make sure you’re using at least Netscape 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 before you click!)
  • We also have very little of their website from 1997, but you might remember the iconic Much Afraid-era couch photo and funky page titles like “the dirt” and “swag and threads”…
  • Bits and pieces of the If I Left the Zoo website have survived from 1999-2000, including a letter from the band to fans just prior to the album’s release.
  • The same is true for their 2003 website for Who We Are Instead.
  • Thankfully, the flash container from the 2005 Redemption Songs website was archived! Although the site’s content is inaccessible, it’s still fun to poke around and see how everything functioned.
  • A good deal of the 2006 Good Monsters website was saved, too. This version of the site linked to our forum as the band’s message board!
  • Once the band went independent, their website became much more quirky. The 2008 website featured an interactive head. Take a look and you’ll see what we mean.
  • The band’s 2010 website for The Shelter took on a more practical, blog-like format.
  • By 2012, the band’s official website settled down as a content-rich landing page, pointing visitors to various sources for news, music, videos, and more.
  • And of course, don’t forget to visit today‘s official website for music, tour dates, and more!
